PARIS -- The French football league has sealed a deal with Miami City club aimed at developing its brand and image across the Atlantic.

The French league (LFP) announced on Tuesday that the partnership will help to promote the Ligue 1 championship to the American public, and allow Miami to use the names and logos of the LFP's competitions.

The French football authorities have been focusing on the North American market, with the French Supercup to be staged in Montreal in August.

FC Miami City plays in the Premier Development League, a developmental league in the U.S. and Canada involving 64 teams in four conferences.
