Van Haaren, who made seven league appearances for Feyenoord in the first half of the season, suffered the injury at the club's training camp in Marbella on Wednesday and returned to Holland for treatment on Thursday.
"Ricky van Haaren is certainly not usable for Feyenoord for six weeks," read a statement on Feyenoord's website. "The midfielder has a torn ankle ligament, as is shown by tests at the hospital."
Feyenoord are next in league action on January 22 at VVV-Venlo.
