Espanyol scored three times in the last five minutes Tuesday to rally for a 3-2 win over third-division Mirandes in the first leg of their Copa del Rey quarterfinal.

Alain Arroyo scored a 27th-minute opener for Mirandes via the post before Pablo Infante scored his competition-high fifth goal in the 77th to put the lower-tier club comfortably ahead at the Cornella-El Prat stadium.

But Vladimir Weiss started the hosts' comeback in the 85th before Rui Fonte equalized two minutes later.

Espanyol captain Joan Verdu took advantage of a defensive error to score the winner with a left-footed shot in the 90th to make sure the topflight club takes a slim lead into next week's return leg.
