American forward Eddie Johnson scored twice to give Aris a 2-0 home win over Olympiakos on Wednesday in the Greek league playoffs for next season's European competitions.

Bidding for an invitation to the U.S. pre-World Cup training camp month, Johnson headed home a cross from fellow American Freddy Adu in the 39th minute and scored off a defensive error seconds before the final whistle.

Johnson is on loan from England's Fulham and Adu from Portugal's Benfica.

In the other game, AEK and PAOK tied 0-0.

After the first of the six-round playoffs, Olympiakos and PAOK have four points each, Aris three and AEK two. Based on regular-season standings, Olympiakos entered the playoffs with four points, PAOK three, AEK one and Aris none.

The winner of the playoffs goes to the third qualifying round of the Champions League and the others to the Europa League. On Sunday, Olympiakos hosts AEK and Aris plays at PAOK.
