Draw puts Juventus into last 16

Juventus drew 0-0 with Ajax to move into the round of 16 in the Europa League despite an uninspired performance.

Mohamed Sissoko hit a post with a header and Giorgio Chiellini and Nicola Legrottaglie both saw headers cleared off the line in the first half on Thursday.

After half time Alessandro Del Piero went closest for the home side with a long range shot that Ajax goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg pushed over the bar.

Ajax kept attacked till the end but lacked quality in front of goal. In the closing minutes midfielder Urby Emanuelson came close with a volley that flew just wide of the goal.

Juventus advanced 2-1 on aggregate.
