Kakuta revealed earlier this week the deal was nearly done despite speculation suggesting the Blues would rather send him to Greek side Olympiakos.
However, Dijon have now confirmed the loan on their official website and the winger could feature when they resume their Ligue 1 campaign at home to Evian this weekend.
The French winger is keen to find regular playing time after failing to tie down a first-team place at Stamford Bridge.
He spent time on loan at Fulham last season before spending the first half of the current campaign with Bolton.
Kakuta was left frustrated by both of those stints after once again finding himself on the fringes of the fold.
The winger, who is contracted in West London until 2015, has not appeared for the Blues this season.
