Burnley full-back Kieran Trippier appears close to joining Tottenham after Clarets manager Sean Dyche confirmed the transfer was an "active deal".
The 24-year-old right-back has been linked with a switch to Mauricio Pochettino's men following Burnley's relegation from the Premier League last season.
The Clarets have already lost 11-goal striker Danny Ings to Liverpool and now Trippier, who was an ever-present for Dyche's side in the top flight and contributed four assists, could also follow him out of Turf Moor.
Dyche addressed the speculation regarding the former Manchester City trainee at the unveiling of the club's new shirt on Wednesday and confirmed Spurs were keen on the defender.
A post on Burnley's official Twitter account read: "Sean Dyche confirms reports that @trippier2's proposed move to Tottenham Hotspur is an "active deal"."
Expanding on how close Trippier was to departing, Dyche told local media outlets: "All parties are open with lines of communication, so we know what's going on - other than when it's going to actually happen - but it looks like it's a long way down the line."
Trippier moved to Burnley on a permanent basis in January 2012 and he was an instrumental figure in their promotion-winning campaign in 2013-14, weighing in with 12 assists as Dyche's men finished second in the table.
He signed a new three-year contract following that elevation into the Premier League but Dyche conceded his desire is to now remain in the top flight.
"He made a great decision last summer to sign a contract, stay with the club, and we had to honour that in the respect that if we didn't stay in the Premier League, then we'd allow him the chance to go on," Dyche added.
"I think that's an honourable thing to do with someone who's been such a good servant and said he'd stay with Burnley in the Premier League.
"He's a very good player and it's no surprise people have come knocking."
