The Dons were disappointing as they crashed to a 3-1 defeat at Stevenage in the Capital One Cup on Tuesday night.
Brown said: "We want to hit the ground running at the start of the league season.
"We are limping into it, but I am sure after working on various things and encouraging them then we can go again.
"You have to pick the positives as well as the negatives. You can highlight all the negatives in the world after that performance and try and eliminate the basic errors by looking at the DVDs, but it is my job to pick the boys up by looking at the positives, such as we broke well and we can score goals.

"Hopefully, at the start of the season we can play better and pick up valuable points."
