Berra backs Fletch for Prem
Fletcher, 25, handed in a transfer request last week after Wolves reportedly rejected a ?12million offer from Sunderland.
After playing for Scotland in their 3-1 friendly win over Australia at Easter Road on Wednesday night, Berra was asked if he expected Fletcher to be in a Wolves shirt for the league opener away to Leeds United at the weekend.
The former Hearts defender - who has been made available for transfer by Wolves - was unsure of his answer but certain in his assessment of Fletcher's abilities.
"I don't know, I haven't been there for a week but as has been reported, there have been a lot of bids for him," said Berra.
"He's a top player and I am sure he will go on to big things.
"Every team want to keep their best players but if people put the right money down you can't say no and I think the boy deserves to play in the Premier League."
Berra is looking forward to the trip to Elland Road and facing Scotland team-mate Ross McCormack who came off the bench to score the third goal against the Socceroos.
He said: "Ross played very well last night.
"In the first two or three games of the season you can never really judge what the games are going to be like.
"Teams are coming to it fresh with a lot of enthusiasm but it is going to be a difficult game."
