Bayern Munich says defender Daniel van Buyten has broken a bone in his left foot and needs an operation.
Van Buyten was replaced in the 76th minute after breaking a metatarsal in the 3-1 loss at Borussia Moenchengladbach on Friday following a tussle for the ball with Marco Reus.
Bayern said team doctor Hans-Wilhelm Mueller-Wohlfahrt will operate on the Belgian international on Saturday afternoon in a Munich clinic.
It's not yet known how long Van Buyten will be sidelined, with Mueller-Wohlfahrt telling Bayern's website that his approximate recovery period could only be determined after the operation.
