Bale could feature - Redknapp

Redknapp said after Saturday night's 2-1 Premier League win at Sunderland that he did not expect Wales winger Bale to have recovered from his back injury in time for the trip to Italy. But the Spurs boss now appears more optimistic about the 21-year-old's prognosis. Asked if Bale - who scored a hat-trick on his last visit to the San Siro in the 4-3 defeat to Inter Milan - would definitely be sidelined, Redknapp told The Guardian: "No, I'll be honest with you, not for sure. I don't know but the specialist thinks Gareth should be okay. "If he feels right tomorrow I'd like to think he'd be out there giving it a go. He caused so many problems for Inter, didn't he? Everyone who saw that game always asks about Gareth Bale now." Redknapp is also waiting on Holland midfielder Van der Vaart, who has been struggling with a calf strain. "I have got to wait and see how Rafa is," said Redknapp. "He could be okay." Croatia playmaker Luka Modric is not expected to feature, though, after undergoing surgery to have his appendix removed on February 1. "Luka could be just a bit short," Redknapp said. "It's only nine or 10 days ago that he had the operation. I don't think he'll play."
