The 21-year-old joined West Brom last year when they agreed a deal with Rochdale, which also saw him remain at Spotland on loan this season. Dawson has had an excellent campaign for Keith Hill's side and was linked with another loan spell next term. But Hodgson has confirmed that he intends to welcome Dawson into his own squad. "I'm not looking to loan him out because he's had his loan spell," said Hodgson. "We bought him and left him at his club so now, at the age of 21, he has had two-and-a-half years of playing matches every week and he's probably got nigh-on 100 matches under his belt. "I believed we signed him to be a player here, not to help other clubs have a player. So I'm looking forward to working with him." Hodgson admits he has impressed West Brom's scouts who have been keeping tabs on him. "We have been monitoring him because he's our player so I have quite a few reports on him and they have all been positive," he said. "Everyone I have spoken to thinks he's got a good career in front of him so it will be up to him now to show me and the rest of the staff that those reports are correct."
