Dubai's Al Wasl says Atletico Madrid has rejected its offer for Uruguay striker Diego Forlan.
Al Wasl, which recently hired Argentine legend Diego Maradona as coach, said in a statement Thursday that it had offered to take Forlan on a one-year loan.
It said Atletico Madrid had rejected several offers, adding that the ''Spanish side constantly increased the player's price tag and created obstacles that made the deal impossible.''
The club has said it wants to bolster its squad now that Maradona has signed a two-year contract.
