Aston Villa ended a run of 13 English Premier League games without a victory in a 2-0 win over Swansea at Villa Park on Saturday.

Defender Matthew Lowton struck from the edge of the box to give the home side an early lead in the 16th minute. The visitors dominated possession after the break but failed to find an equalizer as the sides exchanged chances in a free-flowing second half before new signing Christian Benteke doubled the advantage in the 88th.

Villa came into the game without a home Premier League win since March but managed to hang on to its lead against a Swansea side that had scored 10 goals in its first three league games of the season.

The defeat was Michael Laudrup's first since the Dane took over as Swansea manager in the offseason.
