Not only is Justin Verlander the reigning American League Most Valuable Player and Cy Young winner, he's also the Detroit Tigers’ self-appointed campaign manager.
A year ago, he stumped for teammates Alex Avila and Victor Martinez to get on the All-Star team.
Now Verlander is touting Miguel Cabrera as his MVP successor with a "Keep the MVP in the 'D'" T-shirt.
Verlander wore the shirt before a game in Chicago earlier this week.
Watch the video above to see the shirt and hear Verlander's "Cabrera for MVP" pitch.
Going into Friday's game, Cabrera was hitting .328 with 36 homers and 118 RBIs, ranking in the top five in the AL in each category.
