UAB runs away from Georgia Southern, 84-62

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (AP) -- Chad Frazier scored 19 points as crisp-shooting Alabama-Birmingham used a big first half to knock off Georgia Southern Sunday night, 84-62.

The Blazers (8-2) built a 20-point lead at intermission, taking a 41-21 lead.

Brian Holmes drilled a 3-pointer to give the Eagles (5-6) a 21-15 lead with 7:45 left to play in the first half but did not score again until Marvin Baynham converted a layup 1:37 into the second half. By then, UAB held a 20-point lead, 43-23.

Jordan Swing and Robert Williams added 12 and 11 points, respectively, and Rod Rucker grabbed 11 rebounds for UAB. The Blazers shot 48.5 percent from the field (32 of 66).

Curtis Diamond's 13 points off the Georgia Southern bench led the Eagles, who struggled shooting from the field, connecting on just 22 of 68 attempts (32.4 percent).
