Three takeaways from the Blue Jackets 4-1 loss to the Maple Leafs

BY foxsports • October 31, 2014

One: They had trouble clearing their own zone and it took eight and a half minutes to register their first shot on Leafs goalie Jonathan Bernier. This is not coming out and setting the tone of the game. Toronto dictated the pace of the game.

Two: Curtis McElhinney has shown very little rebound control in the last two games. The pucks were bouncing off his pads every which way. He doesn't look as settled in net as he did before the injury in Ottawa two weeks ago.

Three: Poor decisions with the puck, and facing a good goaltender in Bernier, equals a recipe that did not pay dividends for the boys in Union Blue tonight. Matt Calvert is possibly returning Saturday night with Boone Jenner looking like he may return next week. It's not a moment too soon, either.
