Sun Devils blank Cal State Fullerton
TEMPE, Ariz. – The 14th-ranked Arizona State baseball team shut out No. 13 Cal State Fullerton 1-0 on Tuesday night in front of 2,920 fans at Packard Stadium in Tempe, Ariz. Joey DeMichele collected the only RBI of the game and four Sun Devil pitchers combined to shut out the Titans.
DeMichele broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the sixth inning with an RBI single through the right side to score Andrew Aplin, who led off the frame with a double down the right line before stealing third.
Robert Ravago (2-0) earned the win for ASU (16-8), throwing 2 2/3 perfect innings with one strikeout.
Right-hander Zak Miller, making his second start of the season, gave up seven hits and no runs in 4 1/3 innings.
Right-hander Joseph Lopez pitched a perfect eighth inning before right-hander Jake Barrett his fourth save with a scoreless ninth.
Koby Gauna (2-2) took the loss for the Titans (14-9), giving up one run one three hits in five innings.
