Spring Training Report: First casualty?

FT. MYERS -- A scary moment at Twins camp today, Jason Kubel hit a line drive off the left forearm of relief pitcher Jose Mijares.  Mijares was seen in the clubhouse with ice on his arm, but said that he should be okay.  Pitching coach Rick Anderson said that Mijares will be re-evaluated tomorrow morning, but added that he does not anticipate him missing any time on the mound.

Matt Guerrier had a little fun during his mound session.  Facing Mauer, Morneau, Cuddyer and Thome, Guerrier went right after them with fastballs, since the wind was blowing in from right field.  Guerrier said he felt really good.

Jesse Crain worked on throwing all of his pitches for strikes, which he said is his main objective at this point in camp.  Crain is also developing a changeup, to go with his sinker, slider and curveball.

Manager Ron Gardenhire is happy with the way pitchers are throwing the ball over the plate through the first two days of live batting practice.  He said that Clay Condrey looked really good and when asked about Mike Maroth, Gardenhire added,
