Regents approve extension for Oklahoma coach Stoops

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma football coach Bob Stoops received a two-year extension and now is signed through 2020 after the University of Oklahoma Board of Regents approved the deal Wednesday.

Stoops got the extension back in July. The Regents ratified the deal Wednesday.

Stoops is in his 15th season as the Sooners coach. He will earn $4.55 million this year. His salary will be $5.15 million starting in 2016.

Stoops is six wins away from passing Barry Switzer as the school's all-time winningest coach. He is 53 years old.
