ARLINGTON, Texas -- The next man up for the Texas Rangers will be right-hander Stolmy Pimentel.

Pimentel was claimed on waivers from the Pittsburgh Pirates Saturday. The club made room for Pimentel on the 40-man roster by moving right-hander Lisalverto Bonilla to the 60-day disabled list.

Pimentel is out of options and the Rangers will make a 25-man roster move Sunday to make space for him.

Pimentel, 25, pitched in nine games for Pittsburgh this spring before getting designated for assignment when the Pirates set their Opening Day roster. He pitched for the Pirates in 2013 and 2014. In 20 appearances in 2014 he was 2-1 with a 5.23 ERA.

The club is expected to make a pair of roster moves soon as left-hander Derek Holland and outfielder Ryan Rua are expected to be placed on the disabled list. Rua has a sprained ankle and Holland a strained muscle in his left shoulder.
