ORLANDO, Fla. (AP) -- Orlando City says rookie defender Conor Donovan will be sidelined for the remainder of the 2015 season after tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee.

The team says the rookie suffered the injury Saturday during the Lions' 0-0 draw against the Philadelphia Union. It occurred in the 10th minute of the match.

Orlando City officials said Wednesday that Donovan is expected to undergo surgery in the coming weeks.
