The Jets had serious interest in Tavon Austin. The Jets did their homework on Tavon Austin. The Jets met with Tavon Austin. Tavon Austin said the Jets "have a plan for me." And the Jets missed out on Tavon Austin … by one pick. Austin, who was an All American at West Virginia, was selected No. 8 overall by the St. Louis Rams following a trade with the Buffalo Bills, who previously owned the pick. It’s no secret that the Jets lack playmakers. Salary cap issues hamstrung the franchise in free agency and they weren’t able to make any game-changing acquisitions. The New York Jets’ offense may have been the hardest to watch in 2012. Following a Santonio Holmes injury in October, the Jets fielded arguably the worst wide receiving corps in the league. Is it too soon to say, "here we go again." Instead, the Jets settled for Alabama cornerback Dee Milliner at No. 9 overall, who is recovering from shoulder surgery. When will he be ready? Who knows?
