NAU women lose to Drake in tournament final

Northern Arizona women's basketball finished as the runner-up at the Hilton Garden Inn Thanksgiving Tournament with a 67-52 loss to Drake on Saturday at the Rolle Activity Center.  The Lumberjacks' Caty Huntington and Amy Patton were two of five members named to the All-Tournament Team.

NAU (3-3) was down 14-4 to start the game and trailed 31-24 at the half. Drake (3-2) shot 57 percent in the second half, preventing NAU from mounting a comeback.

Huntington finished with a team-high 11 points on 4-of-7 shooting. Patton scored a tournament-high 23 points against Binghamton on Friday.

NAU shot 33 percent for the game, while Drake finished at 48 percent from the field.

Drake's Kristin Turk received Most Valuable Player honors after posting 22 points against Central Michigan and 20 points against the Lumberjacks.  Rachael Hackbarth from Drake also earned All-Tournament accolades, as did Central Michigan's Kaihla Szunko.

NAU returns to action against San Jose State on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 6:35 p.m. in the Rolle Activity Center.
