NAU can't keep up with Eastern Washington

CHENEY, Wash. (AP) -- Collin Cheverton scored 22 points and Venky Jois had 14 points and 14 rebounds as Eastern Washington defeated Northern Arizona 82-59 Thursday night.

Martin Seiferth added 13 points and eight rebounds for the Eagles (4-11, 2-3 Big Sky), and Thomas Reuter had seven assists. Eastern Washington committed 19 turnovers and shot just 8 of 20 from the free-throw line, but overcame that by hitting 8 of 17 3-pointers and shooting 50 percent overall from the field.

DeWayne Russell led Northern Arizona (5-10, 2-3) with 17 points, and Michael Dunn had 11.

The Lumberjacks scored the first seven points of the game before the Eagles rallied and took the lead at 16-15 on a jumper by Jois. Cheverton later added two 3-pointers and three free throws during a 16-1 run that put Eastern Washington ahead 32-18 with 4:18 left in the first half.

The Eagles' lead reached as many as 25 points in the second half.
