Mike Smith: Lance Stephenson first 'real signature move' since Doc's taken over

Mike Smith is a fan of the Lance Stephenson trade.

The Clippers analyst for Prime Ticket joined The Beast 980 on Tuesday and said, this trade, is the 'first real signature move' since Doc Rivers took the reigns as head coach and president of basketball operations.

Stephenson joins the Clippers as Matt Barnes and Spencer Hawes are sent to the Hornets.

"If Lance can become the player he was two years ago, it's a major, major upgrade for the Clippers," Smith said. "The best General Managers ... admit their mistakes early and move forward."

How will Stephenson factor into the Clippers' chemistry?

"He will add an element of toughness. He will add an element of swagger," Smith said. "He's New York tough."
