Joe Franklin pulls 7-1 upset in Belmont feature

NEW YORK (AP) Joe Franklin was the 7-1 upset winner of the $90,000 allowance feature for turf sprinters on Thursday at Belmont Park.
Jose Ortiz guided the 3-year-old to a second straight win, and the fifth in 10 career starts.
The colt, trained by David Jacobson, set the pace for the six furlongs in 1:07.87 over the firm course. He paid $16.60, $8.90 and $5.10.
Iroquois Girl, the lone mare in the field, finished 1 1/2 lengths behind the winner, returning $5 and $4.

Dowse's Beach finished sixth as the 8/5 favorite.
