FOX Sports Ohio's Joe Reedy later confirmed the promotion of Lindor, and said he will wear No. 12 when he joins the Indians on Sunday.

Lindor, 21, was the eighth overall pick in the 2011 draft. MLB.com had him rated as the fourth overall prospect coming into the 2014 season.

During his time with the Indians' Triple-A affiliate the Columbus Clippers, Lindor batted .279 with two home runs and 22 RBIs.

Shortstop has been one of the rough spots for the Indians this season, and fans will be hoping Lindor can make an instant impact.
