Haggans returns to Cardinals with 1-year deal

Starting linebacker Clark Haggans is returning to the Arizona Cardinals after signing a one-year contract.

Haggans (6-feet-4, 243 pounds) has played with the Cardinals for the past four years, after eight seasons with the Pittsburgh Steelers. He started all 16 games in 2011 and registered 54 tackles, three sacks, three passes defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. For his career, he has recorded 495 tackles and 46.5 sacks in 163 games.

He was originally a fifth-round draft pick out of Colorado State in 2000.

To make room on the roster, linebacker Broderick Binns was released.
