Grizzlies' Conley missing a week with ankle sprain
MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Memphis Grizzlies point guard Mike Conley is expected to miss at least a week because of a sprained right ankle.
An MRI exam on Saturday revealed that Conley had a Grade 2 sprain. Coach Dave Joerger said before the game against Milwaukee that the training staff will evaluate Conley after a week and see how the treatment is going before updating any timetable on his return.
Conley is the Grizzlies' leading scorer at 18 points a game. He was hurt midway through the fourth quarter of Friday night's 94-90 win over Minnesota. He was carried off the floor and left the arena in a walking boot.
Conley also averages a team-best 6.3 assists. He was instrumental in carrying the team during the 23 games that center Marc Gasol missed with a knee injury.
Rookie Nick Calathes will start in Conley's place against Milwaukee.
