The San Antonio Spurs lost guard Manu Ginobili on Monday to a left hamstring strain.

And instead of waiting for an official release, Dr. Ginobili let Spurs fans know just how bad the injury was.

"Just finished with the MRI," Ginobili tweeted. "Grade 1 strained left hamstring. 10/14 days out."

The team followed the tweet by confirming the report from their star.

Ginobili injured the hamstring during the first half of Sunday's win over Minnesota.

If Ginobili misses the full two weeks, it could keep him out of the Spurs' next seven games, including matchups with Western Conference playoff contenders Golden State and Memphis, who the Spurs are scheduled to face twice.

Ginobili is averaging 12.9 points and 4.6 assists this season.  This will be the fourth time in his 11-year NBA career that he will miss significant action due to injury.  San Antonio currently sits atop the Southwest Division at 29-11, holding a 2.5-game lead over Memphis.

But don't worry about Ginobili. The injury does not appear to be hampering his spirits.

"Will be back shortly," Ginobili tweeted to his fans. "Thanks 4 ur support!!"
