NEW YORK (AP) Former major league pitcher Daniel Moskos has been suspended 50 games under baseball's minor league drug program following a second positive test for a drug of abuse.

Moskos, once a touted prospect with the Pittsburgh Pirates, is a free agent. The commissioner's office said Friday his penalty would begin when he signs with another major league organization.

Moskos was drafted fourth overall by Pittsburgh in 2007 out of Clemson. He made 31 relief appearances for the Pirates in 2011, going 1-1 with a 2.96 ERA.

The left-hander pitched in nine games for Triple-A Albuquerque in the Los Angeles Dodgers' system last season. He was 1-0 with a 6.75 ERA.
