Coyotes assign six players to Portland

Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced Thursday that the Coyotes have assigned forwards Chris Brown, Andy Miele, Brendan Shinnimin and Jordan Szwarz as well as defensemen Brandon Gormley and Chris Summers to the Portland Pirates, the Coyotes' American Hockey League affiliate.
