Comment of the day goes to Barbara Thomas

On Saturday we posted a blog item about quarterback Brian Hoyer recruiting LeBron James (via Twitter) to play wide receiver for the Browns. All in good fun, of course.

Any time LeBron James is mentioned in the same sentence as the word 'Cleveland', it's bound to spur conversation. However, the LeBron-bashing doesn't always bring intelligent conversation and that's why we award Barbara Thomas our 'Comment of the Day':

"Years ago, an NFL team wanted to sign Wilt Chamberlain as a receiver
and as a guy to stand by the goal post to swat down very long field goal
attempts. Never happened though, Philadelphia squashed the idea because
his long legs were too vulnerable on a football field and too valuable
to risk their star center if an injury ever
happened.

The point is, no NBA team is going to let a
franchise guy risk their investment doing something other than what his
contract says they'll pay him to do. Simple business, and common sense
for most people."

Kudos to Barbara for providing an outstanding research-supported comment!
