GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Clay Matthews hasn't given up on that $15,000 that the NFL wants to take from him. One week after the league fined Matthews for taking down San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick out of bounds, the Green Bay Packers' star outside linebacker is awaiting an appeal.

"It's coming up soon," Matthews told FOXSportsWisconsin.com in the locker room Thursday.

It's not surprising that Matthews feels he doesn't deserve a fine. Despite the negative comments made by 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh after the game, Matthews didn't see his hit on Kaepernick as a cheap shot.

"I'm an awesome player, not a dirty player," Matthews said last week.

Matthews signed a five-year, $66 million contract extension with the Packers earlier this year.
