Cavaliers All-Star PG Kyrie Irving out at least two weeks

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving will miss at least two weeks with a strain in his left biceps, team officials said Monday.

Irving suffered the injury in the first quarter of the Cavs' 102-80 loss Sunday at the Los Angeles Clippers. He did not return to the game, finishing with two points on 0-for-5 shooting.

The Cavs' plane landed in Cleveland around 6:30 a.m. ET and Irving was later examined at the Cleveland Clinic. According to team officials, Irving will "undergo a period of inactivity for his left biceps" and will be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Despite several reports to the contrary, the Cavs have no plans to shut down Irving for the rest of the season, sources told FOX Sports Ohio. The regular season ends April 16. The Cavs (26-41) entered Monday 4 ½ games behind the Atlanta Hawks for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference with 15 games remaining.

Irving, in his third season, averages team-highs of 20.2 points and 6.3 assists per game. He started in his first All-Star Game in February was named the game's Most Valuable Player.

He has played in 54 of the Cavs' 57 games this season, missing all three in January with a knee contusion.

The Cavs host LeBron James and the two-time defending champion Miami Heat on Tuesday. Cavs guard C.J. Miles has said he is hopeful of returning after missing the previous 12 games with a sprained ankle.
