Browns sign Brian Tyms off Dolphins practice squad

BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns on Tuesday signed wide receiver Brian Tyms off the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins. In addition, the team waived wide receiver Tori Gurley.

Tyms, whose name is pronounced TIMS, is 6-3, 204 pounds and in his first NFL season out of Florida A&M. Originally signed by San Francisco as an undrafted free agent on May 4, 2012, Tyms spent all of 2012 and the first seven weeks this season on the Dolphins’ practice squad.


He played two seasons at Florida A&M, where he registered 45 receptions for 661 yards and four touchdowns, after spending two years at Tallahassee Community College. Tyms is a native of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., where he attended Dillard High School.

NFL rules allow teams to add to their 53-man rosters players from other organizations’ practice squads.
