MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Jean Segura left Wednesday's 7-0 victory over the Cubs prior to the top of the second inning with a strained right hamstring.
Segura walked with one out in the bottom of the first inning and came up limping after scoring on Aramis Ramirez's single to center.
The All-Star shortstop grabbed for his right hamstring after crossing the plate and quickly walked up the tunnel to the clubhouse with athletic trainer Dan Wright. He's officially listed as day-to-day.
With just 11 games remaining, Segura could run out of time while trying to return. The next couple of days will be critical in determining if he will be able to return this season.
"It's not bad, but saying that, we'll see how many days it's going to be," Brewers manager Ron Roenicke said. "If he walks in here tomorrow and hardly feels anything, then we have a chance to get him back out there."
Segura is hitting .296 with 12 home runs and 49 RBI in his first full season as Milwaukee's starting shortstop. The 23-year-old leads baseball with 10 triples and tops the National League with 44 stolen bases and has been one of the only Brewers to not miss time with an injury this year.
"His flexibility is still good but when you put pressure on it, he feels it," Roenicke said.
