LOS ANGELES –The Los Angeles Dodgers today placed right-handed pitcher Chad Billingsley on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow pain and optioned infielder Alex Castellanos to Triple-A Albuquerque, activating newly acquired first baseman Adrian Gonzalez, right-handed pitcher Josh Beckett and infielder Nick Punto.  

Billingsley won six consecutive decisions after being reinstated from the disabled list on July 23 and has posted a 1.80 ERA (9 ER/ 45.0 IP) in his last seven starts. Castellanos struck out last night in his only at bat since being recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque yesterday. 

Gonzalez will wear uniform number 23, Beckett will wear number 30 and Punto will wear number 7.

 To make room on the 40-man roster, Jerry Hairston Jr. was transferred to the 60-day disabled list.
