At Madison, the Badgers hockey squad fell behind early and could never fully recover in an eventual 2-1 loss to No. 8 Miami (Ohio) Saturday. The loss brought an end to Wisconsin's seven-game winning streak, as well as the club's 11-game unbeaten streak.

The Badgers knotted things at 1-all midway through the second period, off a goal from standout Michael Mersch. Alas, Miami's Curtis McKenzie scored the eventual game-winner soon after.

With the loss Wisconsin, which got 30 saves from netminder Joel Rumpel, dropped to 9-8-5 overall. Miami (Ohio) improved to 13-6-5 overall with Saturday's win, which made for a split of the teams' weekend series.
