At least Mike Pettine has a sense of humor about the whole Johnny Manziel thing

Mike Pettine made a funny on Wednesday.

Addressing the media about naming Johnny Manziel the starter, Pettine spoke about a lot of the reasons he chose to go with Manziel instead of the struggling Brian Hoyer, who has thrown just eight interceptions and one touchdown in his last three starts.

Said Pettine: "The body of work was trending in the wrong direction."

But the Browns coach, addressing a report by FOX Sports NFL Insider Jay Glazer, did show he's having a pretty good time with this whole charade as his team gets ready for a must-win against the Bengals.

"I know a lot of people were looking for him at the Cavs game, but he was here," said an unprompted Pettine.

Last week, Manziel was spotted at a Cavaliers game last Tuesday, smack dab in the middle of the quarterback controversy that had many calling for him to get the reins. The outing may have had an impact on the Browns' decision not to start Manziel a week earlier.

Looks like Manziel was studying hard this time around.
