TEMPE, Ariz. -- The Arizona State University women's basketball team (22-9, 11-7 Pac-12) was given a No. 9 seed in the South Bend Regional and will open up NCAA Tournament play against the No. 8 seed Vanderbilt (18-12, 7-9 SEC) on Saturday at 8 a.m. (Arizona time) at Savage Arena in Toledo, Ohio.
The winner of the ASU-Vanderbilt game will play the winner of the matchup between No. 1 seed and unbeaten Notre Dame and No. 16 seed Robert Morris.
The Sun Devils are making their 12th overall appearance in the NCAA Tournament, the ninth under head coach Charli Turner Thorne.
The Sun Devils are returning to the NCAA Tournament after a three-year absence. In 2011, as a No. 7 seed, they lost to Temple in a first-round game in Salt Lake City.
