TUCSON, Ariz. - Sophomore Candice Osei-Agyemang and junior Julia Glanz scored goals as the Arizona women's soccer team defeated Florida International 2-0 on Friday night in the Loews Ventana Canyon Cats Classic tournament.

Osei-Agyemang scored her first goal of the season for Arizona (4-3) in the 33rd minute on a cross from teammate Emily Lai. In the 77th minute, Glanz scored her second goal of the season after a shot from Osei-Agyemang was deflected off the Panthers goalkeeper, Kaitlyn Savage.

The Wildcats had a 21-5 edge in shots over Florida International (3-3-1), with 12 of those shots taken in the first half. Junior Ana-Maria Montoya led Arizona on shot attempts with six, and junior Jazmin Ponce had five.

“The result was good, you can’t complain about that,” head coach Lisa Oyen said. “We hadn’t had a win at home yet so that was one of our goals. We came out really strong, applied pressure and had some good shots. I thought that the team’s persistence was good but we did break down a little in the second half.”

In the net, Arizona goalkeeper Gabby Kaufman registered three saves.
