Aggies cruise, stay unbeaten in WAC

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) -- Wendell McKines scored 24 points and Hamidu Rahman added a season-high 20 to lift New Mexico State past San Jose State 79-63 on Thursday night.

McKines and Rahman had eight rebounds apiece for the Aggies (14-5, 4-0), who won their sixth consecutive game and are tied for the Western Athletic Conference lead with Nevada.

Rahman was 7 for 7 from the field and NMSU shot 52 percent as a team. The Aggies, who never trailed, built a 65-41 lead midway through the second half.

Senior guard Hernst Laroche added 15 points. With his second field goal of the game, Laroche became the 29th member of the 1,000-point club at New Mexico State. Laroche also broke the school record for career minutes played (3,811) that Eric Channing previously held (3,783).

Keith Shamburger scored 19 points for San Jose State (6-12, 0-4). Wil Carter had 13 points and nine rebounds for the Spartans.

The Aggies return to action on Saturday night with a road game at Hawaii.
