Canada's Maelle Ricker has taken the Olympic women's snowboardcross gold medal, winning a final that didn't include Lindsey Jacobellis, who was eliminated in the semis.

Ricker, who came into the Olympics leading the World Cup standings, added Olympic gold to her stash by easily defeating Deborah Anthonioz of France in the final. Olivia Nobs of Switzerland won the bronze.

In the semifinal, Ricker and Jacobellis were the favorites to advance, but jumping side by side, Jacobellis lost her balance and went outside a gate to be disqualified. The American won the consolation race to finish fifth.
