Positive feedback from Olympic marathon test

BY foxsports • May 30, 2011

The marathon route for next year's Olympics in London has been tested by 50 invitational club runners, with organizers saying feedback has been ''positive.''

The local organizing committee tested technology and timing on the course, which started and finished Monday on The Mall in central London and comprised three circuits of eight miles and one 2.2-mile lap.

LOCOG director of sport Debbie Jevans says ''what was run will pretty much be the course because the feedback from the athletes has been so positive ... it worked very well.''

The Paralmypic course may be tweaked after three wheelchair athletes reported difficulties with three tight corners and a stretch of cobbles.
