Authorities say they have arrested the wife of an Olympic medalist who was gunned down in his Southern California back yard last summer.

Oxnard police said in a written statement that 52-year-old Jane Laut was arrested Saturday in connection with the homicide of her husband, shot putter David Laut, and is being held in Ventura County Jail on $3 million bail.

David Laut - a bronze medalist at the 1984 Olympics - was shot several times in the head on Aug. 28. Police at the time said he was fatally shot after confronting intruders.

Police say investigators working with the District Attorney's Office issued an arrest warrant for Jane Laut earlier this week.
