A twin-engine plane that crashed on takeoff from a northern Arizona airport was registered to a two-time Olympic distance runner from Albuquerque, N.M.
The aircraft was registered to Pat Porter, who competed in the 10,000-meter run at the 1984 and 1988 Olympic Games.
Authorities said Thursday a man and two children were killed when the plane went down near Sedona. Their names haven't been released.
The bodies were removed from the charred wreckage Thursday afternoon, and the Yavapai County Medical Examiner's Office will determine the victims' identities.
A spokeswoman for Porter's wife, Trish, told The Associated Press that she will hold a news conference Friday to address the crash.
Trish Porter is also a former Olympian. She met Pat during a pre-Olympic training camp for the 1988 Seoul Olympics.
