Trent Williams and David Amerson return to Redskins practice

BY foxsports • August 17, 2015

The Washington Redskins finally got some good news on the injury front. Left tackle Trent Williams and cornerback David Amerson returned to practice on Sunday.

Williams is one of the NFL's best lef tackles and his task of protecting Robert Griffin III's blindside is key for the Redskins' offensive success overall. Williams feels quicker heading into the 2015 season after changing his offseason diet and dropping his weight to 318 pounds. Williams allowed just four sacks and 25 total quarterback pressures in 15 games last season, per Pro Football Focus.

The Redskins are expecting big chunks of playing time for Amerson this season. Although the cornerback has disappointed to this point in his career, injuries at cornerback have forced him back into a very important position. With Bashaud Breeland and Deangelo Hall injured, Breeland could be tasked with playing outside cornerback with the first team unit in the upcoming preseason game. Breeland struggles in 2014 were well documented here by Football Outsiders.
