Texans OL Jeff Adams out for season

The Houston Texans will be without Jeff Adams for the remainder of the season after the offensive lineman suffered a torn patellar tendon in Sunday's loss to the Carolina Panthers, head coach Bill O'Brien announced.

Adams, who started the game at right tackle, was carted off the field in the second quarter.

“Jeff Adams will be out for the year with a knee injury," O'Brien said, per the team's official website. "I feel for the guy. The guy really put a lot of effort into this season. He was here all offseason, really improved as a player and those things happen. Those injuries happen.”

The 6-foot-7, 305-pound Adams was claimed on waivers by the Texans in August of 2014. He played in two games at the end of last season and started at left guard in Week 1. A thumb injury to left tackle Duane Brown prompted the coaching staff to move Adams to right tackle against the Panthers.

With Adams out and Brown day to day, the Houston Chronicle reports newly-acquired offensive lineman Oday Oboushi may see playing time in Week 3 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

“I think we can get him up to speed,” O’Brien said, per the Chronicle. “I think he’s a smart guy. He’s been in a similar offense. I think he could help us this week.”
